Augmented reality marketing

Augmented reality marketing that starts on paper.

Packaging, postcards, mailers and in-store cards already reach people's hands. Ember22 adds a video to the print itself: a scan opens the browser, the camera finds the design, and your clip plays on it. No app for anyone to download, numbers for every code, and a video you can still change after the print run.

Build a pilot on the free trial, which runs 14 days with 5 credits and needs no credit card. Volume work is a conversation with us.

A branded box with a QR code on its side, and a phone playing its front as video.

Where it goes

Print you're already paying for, doing more.

  • AR packaging

Pick one flat face of the box or sleeve as the picture the camera looks for, and play the product in use, the maker's story or a recipe on it. The QR code goes on a side panel or on the back.

  • Postcards and direct mail

An AR postcard gets a second look on the doormat. The front plays a short message from the brand; a button beside it opens the offer, the booking page or the shop.

  • In-store and event print

Counter cards, shelf talkers, catalogue pages and handouts at a stand. For larger formats on walls and in windows, see AR posters.

Measurement

Analytics for every Short Code.

Each design you publish gets its own six-character code and its own figures in the dashboard, so two versions of a mailer can be compared side by side.

Reach
Scans and unique visitors per code, per day and by hour, over the last week, the last month or all time.
Attention
Plays, how far into the video people got, the share who watched it to the end, and how long they stayed on the page.
Response
Taps on each button you placed, by its label, so "Shop now" and "Find a store" are counted apart.
Context
Device type, the app the code was opened in, whether the video played on the print or full screen, and an approximate country and city.
Export
The same figures as a CSV for a date range, for the report you already send to a client.

The person scanning stays anonymous. There is no cookie, GPS location is never requested, IP addresses are not stored, and a browser sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control sends no analytics at all.

After it ships

The print is fixed. The campaign isn't.

Swap the spring video for the summer one, retarget a button at a new landing page, or fix a typo in a label. Each change is published as a new Revision under the same code, so every box on every shelf plays it from the next scan. The Studio keeps a changelog, and Roll back returns to any earlier Revision.

The figures run straight through. A code's analytics are never reset by an edit; they're split by Revision instead, so you can see whether the new cut holds attention better than the old one.

The one change that costs a reprint is the picture. Prints already out there carry the old design, so the camera would stop recognizing them, and the Studio says so and asks for confirmation before publishing.

Switch off

End a promotion without pulping the stock.

When an offer expires or a product is recalled, Switch off the code. Anyone who scans it then sees a still picture and a short note that it is paused, instead of a video promising something you no longer sell. Switch it on again and it plays as before, with nothing republished.

Every plan has Switch off, the free trial included, and it costs no credits either way.

Brands and agencies

Workspaces, for more than one pair of hands.

A business Workspace

  • Holds the brand's codes, credits and plan in one place, apart from anyone's personal work.
  • An agency can keep a separate one for each client, and switch between them in the Studio.
  • Colleagues join by email invitation, and an Admin can remove them again.

Two roles

  • Members make, publish, edit and switch off codes, and see every code's analytics.
  • Admins do all of that, and also invite people, change roles, pay, and delete codes.
  • Credits are pooled, so the whole Workspace spends from one balance.

Scale

From one pilot to a product line.

  • Free trial

Enough credits to prove the idea on a handful of designs, with clips of up to 30 seconds. Trial codes pause at the end, so treat them as tests.

  • Business

A regular grant of credits, videos of up to 3 minutes, and batch create for making many codes in one sitting. Plans are listed on the pricing page.

  • Enterprise

For large runs and many brands, priced to the volume and set up by us rather than bought at checkout. Tell us what you're planning through the contact page.

Every copy of one design plays the same video, so one credit covers a print run of any size. Different videos need different designs. The mechanics behind that are on how it works.

AR marketing questions

Does AR packaging work on a curved bottle or can?

Plan for a flat face. The camera matches the design as a flat picture, so a label wrapped tightly around a cylinder is unlikely to lock reliably.

Can one code carry a different video for each region?

No. A code plays one video for everyone who scans it. For regional versions, print a design per region and compare their figures in the dashboard.

Can we add our own tracking parameters to the buttons?

Yes. A Website button opens whatever secure address you give it, so the campaign tags on your landing page link come along with it. The printed code itself never carries a query string.

Can the video carry our brand instead of Ember22's?

The video and the buttons are yours. On the Enterprise plan the scan can open a page on your own domain, with no Ember22 on it; on every other plan it opens a page at ember22.com.

What does a customer need to watch it?

A phone with a camera, its own browser and a data connection. Where the camera can't follow the print, the video still plays, full screen.
